The Erasmus+ UJI Conference emphasizes internationalization and European funding

The Universitat Jaume I held the Erasmus+ Conference on 13 February in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the UJI. The Conference, organised by the UJI with the collaboration of the FUE-UJI, brought together researchers from the UJI, foundations, municipalities, associations and institutions from all over the province of Castellón. All of them interested in presenting project proposals in the future calls of the Erasmus + European funding programme.

The conference, inaugurated by the rector of the Universitat Jaume I, Eva Alcón, had the participation of SEPIE, the National Agency for the management, dissemination and promotion of the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme in the field of Education and Training, as national experts in the Erasmus+ programme.

Promoted by the Vice-rectorate for Internationalisation and Cooperation of the Universitat Jaume I, the Erasmus+ Conference has encouraged university and provincial groups to participate in the Erasmus+ calls. Furthermore, the conference has made available all the necessary tools for the preparation of proposals and has offered the main keys for the preparation of project proposals with the greatest guarantee of success.

During the conference, Eva Camacho, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Internationalisation and Cooperation, presented the participation of the UJI in the Key Actions KA1 of the Erasmus+ programme for student mobility, PDI and PAS. From SEPIE, Miguel Ángel Serna, technical advisor of Unidad de Educación Escolar y Personas Adultas (Unit of School Education and Adult People), has presented the Erasmus+ programme, emphasizing the Key Action KA2: Cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practice. Special attention was also given during the conference to the importance of forming a good international consortium, according to Nela Gómez, head of EuroFUE-UJI, who explained it with practical examples.

Finally, the Conference was the perfect occasion for the presentation of success stories of the UJI in the Erasmus+ calls, such as On Train, presented by Professor Roger Esteller and the Coordinator of the University for the Elderly Pilar Escuder. On Train aims to develop educational material aimed at trainers of adults, to make online teaching a social and collaborative space.

EO4GEO has also been presented at the Erasmus+ Conference, by the University Professor, Languages and Computer Systems, Joaquín Huerta. Its main objective is focused on reducing the gap of specialized knowledge between the supply and demand of education and training in the space and geospatial sectors, promoting the use and integration of space and geospatial data and services in a wide variety of application areas.

The FUE-UJI also presented one of the Erasmus+ projects coordinated by the European and International Projects Office, Ecoblue Tourism. Anna Tolosa, Project Manager of Ecoblue Tourism, presented the objectives of the project, among which is to increase the opportunities for entrepreneurship among long-term unemployed young people in blue ecotourism in coastal countries.

The Vice-Rector for Internationalisation and Cooperation of the Universitat Jaume I, Joan Martín, closed the Erasmus+ Conference by thanking the presenters and attendees for their participation and stressing the need to continue working on the path to internationalization from the university sphere. The Erasmus+ UJI Conference took place as part of the UJI’s internationalisation strategy, which is based on four main areas: people, studies, research and the international positioning of the Universitat Jaume I of Castellón.
